As a former high school choral director, Mike can anticipate the travel needs of directors and their students before they can even ask. For ten years, Mike served as the choral director at Teays Valley High School, where his choirs and show choir traveled throughout the Midwest and consistently earned awards and superior ratings. A performer himself, Mike was a member of the Ohio State University Men’s Glee Club while he earned his degree in music education. Today, Mike designs custom tours for student performance groups and uses his extensive experience to take the work out of student travel – he wants his clients to know that “traveling can be easy!”
My favorite travel memory
I will never forget singing Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria” in the Lady Chapel at Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire, England, while on tour with The Ohio State University Men’s Glee Club. It was the most emotional musical/travel moment of my life! Music so beautiful it brought tears to your eyes. Experiences like this convinced me how important it was to give students the opportunity to tour the world.
My hobbies and pastimes
In my spare time I serve as the Director of Illuminati, a Sacred Men’s Ensemble in Columbus. Although no longer teaching full time, I feel lucky to have the opportunity to frequently visit schools and guest clinician with show choirs throughout the state. It never gets old seeing young people push past what they think they can achieve.
My favorite travel destination
My favorite travel destination is definitely New York City. I try to get there at least three or four times a year. I love the hustle and bustle and sea of people. Being a huge theater buff, I try to hit all of the new musicals each season.
