Human Resources Generalist
Bob Rogers Travel, the leader in student performance travel, is seeking its first Human Resources Generalist. This is a new role and provides the right candidate the opportunity to originate the human resources function within the organization.
BRT has quadrupled in size in the last several years, and with 50+ employees, we require an accomplished and strategic HR Generalist to design and implement effective practices, policies and procedures that enhance our team-oriented culture. It’s a rare opportunity to play an integral role in growing a dynamic, family-owned business by maximizing employee engagement.
This position is based in Naperville, IL, and will report to the Co-CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the development, implementation and review of all Human Resources programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
- Assesses and improves company culture so that it supports the attainment of the company’s goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
- Provides counsel for employee concerns, leads conflict resolution, and advocates for employees as needed.
- With senior management, establishes and optimizes the company’s salary structure and compensation packages.
- Standardizes, optimizes and leads a hiring and training process that recruits the very best people for each available position, as the team is the most important part of BRT.
- Oversees the performance management system that includes the review process and personal development plans.
- Evaluates the workflow and productivity of roles within the organization.
- Leads company compliance with all existing governmental, labor, and safety legal and government requirements.
- Provides expertise on organization design, addressing issues such as departmental structure, workforce development, employee retention and change management.
- Manages employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, and one-on-one meetings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development.
- At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
- Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
- High professional standards of integrity, ethics, and commitment to the goals of Bob Rogers Travel.
- Ability to serve as a successful contributor on the senior management team that provides company leadership and direction.
- Ability to effectively collaborate across departments to achieve goals.
- Ability to travel as needed, for company meetings, industry events, etc. (Estimated at less than 4 weeks per year.)
- Demonstrated ability to lead both the compliance and cultural aspects of the HR function.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and oral and written communication skills.
