We (heart) travel. Our team’s favorite destinations.
If you’ve spent any time with our team here at BRT, you’ve noticed that travel isn’t just something we plan – it’s something we LOVE. So asking our team about their favorite destinations could result in a much longer conversation than you bargained for. Lucky for you, we’ve compiled our team’s very favorite destinations in North America into one daydream-worthy post to get your travel planning wheels turning. As you “visit” our favorites in this post, you may just find the destination that’s a perfect match for your group’s travel goals!
New York City
There’s so much to see and do in New York City for young performers, we could create a dozen different student itineraries and never list the same activities twice. Lady Liberty, Times Square, 9/11 Memorial, Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, endless museums – you pick the spots, we’ll make it happen. And you just can’t beat Broadway for exposing students to some of the best talent in the world. Beyond the sights and sounds of the city, New York offers incredible opportunities for students to learn and perform in skill-building workshops and memorable venues. It’s the perfect destination for both first time travelers and travel-savvy groups looking for a trip of any length.
We love international travel and have taken students from one end of the planet to the other. Toronto is one of our very favorites because this gorgeous city makes international travel affordable and accessible to groups with a smaller budget. And it’s a no-passport-required locale for anyone under 19 – students need only a birth certificate for Canadian travel. Modern meets Victorian in this royal city, from the skyscrapers downtown to the beautifully preserved Distillery District. The arts come alive in Toronto, where students can experience multiple theatres, two symphony orchestras and over fifty ballet and dance companies. When it’s time to perform, students will channel their inner historians if your group chooses to perform at Casa Loma, a Gothic castle that seems to have taken a wrong turn in Scotland and landed mistakenly in Toronto. Grand halls and exquisite gardens transport young performers to another time. Just one of the many reasons Toronto is one of our favorites.
We love LA. Perfect weather. Mountains and beaches in the same vista. What’s not to love? Whether your students are interested in art, music, history, movies or nature, there’s an LA itinerary for you. Have a Hollywood day, touring the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the historic Walk of Fame. Head up to the hills and hike from Griffith Park to the Observatory for a gorgeous view of the city. Spend a day at Disneyland or Universal Studios Hollywood. Or, if your group is more adventurous, take a desert drive to Joshua Tree for exploring and evening stargazing.
Los Angeles is a great option for groups that want a longer trip without traveling internationally – though there’s so many different cultures in the area, you might feel like you traveled abroad. Little Ethiopia, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Thai Town are all within reach and allow students to experience the sights, sounds (and flavors!) of faraway places without leaving the States.
Is your group *almost* ready to travel internationally but you’d prefer to test the waters? Where better to test than the warm, tropical waters of Hawaii. The gorgeous Hawaiian Islands give student groups the chance to experience another culture with all the benefits of traveling stateside. Beyond beautiful beaches, luaus and hula lessons, students can learn from local musical masters and perform in historic locales, like the USS Arizona Memorial. Always a favorite of our team (hello, it’s Hawaii), the islands are a perfect destination for a more casual performance tour.
These are just a few of our favorites – because honestly, we just can’t choose. If you’ve been dreaming about one of these perfect-for-students locales OR can’t get your mind off another fantastic destination, contact us and we’ll give you all the information you’ll need to get those dreams off the ground.
