The ins and outs of Festival Disney

Fall is here in all of its pumpkin spice glory, but here at BRT, we’re dreaming of spring. Why, you ask? Because this is the time of year we coordinate a magical experience for many of our student travel groups at Festival Disney. One of the many Disney Performing Arts programs, Festival Disney is a musical festival open to choirs, bands and orchestras held over several spring weekends in venues throughout the Walt Disney World^® Resort. This spring will mark the Festival’s 14^th year hosting thousands of young performers. Groups from 47 states (and around the world!) have joined their musical peers for the opportunity to perform for a panel of esteemed adjudicators. Music education, expert feedback

Disney Performing Arts is dedicated to exceptional educational experiences, including Festival Disney, workshops and unique performance opportunities. All groups have access to the valuable feedback of nationally recognized adjudicators from universities across the country through written and recorded comments. Following their performances, groups participate in personalized clinics to gain instant feedback. Groups receive comments that are thorough and thoughtful – notes that they can take home, reflect on and put into practice for next season.

That competitive spirit

While the competition portion of the festival is optional, it’s the reason that many groups attend Festival Disney year after year. Following the thrilling performances in venues across Walt Disney World^® Resort, students will gather for the awards ceremony that concludes the festival weekend. All participating schools and students will take home a Festival Disney award for their groups, as well as individual Festival Disney medals for each student. For competing groups, adjudicators will rank the performances to present Best in Class awards, as well as the prestigious Festival Disney Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.

Festival Disney is such a special experience for so many of our student performing groups. From the experienced Disney Cast Members that assist with logistics at the performance venues to the renowned adjudicators that prepare meaningful feedback that groups can use as they learn and grow – this event offers middle and high school performers a memorable and educational experience like no other.
