Ready, set, SUMMER!
Travel Notes
If your school year hasn’t wrapped already, then you’re definitely counting the days. But are you all set for summer when it comes to your upcoming performance travel? We’re here to help you with the housekeeping, so let’s get started.
Should be finished BEFORE summer break
Before you give your “school brain” some well deserved summer rest, make sure you’ve wrapped up a few travel planning action items:
- Lock down your trip destination and dates
Confirming your trip before you close up shop for summer will make all the difference when you’re back in business this fall. Once we have your trip confirmed, we can get started doing all the heavy lifting of securing the best travel and lodging reservations, performance slots and attraction tickets before they fill up.
- Roll out the trip students and collect deposits
Announcing the trip before summer break gives students the entire summer to fundraise and save money. It’s a valuable fundraising season that is gone before you know it. Collecting deposits serves two important purposes – it gives students some “skin in the game” and gives you as the director a much better sense of how many students you’ll be traveling with.
- Submit performance applications
Are you performing at Disney? Or some of the more popular festivals and parades? Get those applications in before summer if you want a shot at preferred slots, dates and times. This is one of the very few things we can’t do on your behalf, so make sure you’ve checked this off your list before checking out.
Things to consider DURING summer break
As you’re taking time to rest and recharge this summer, your mind will naturally wander back to the music. We can help you point it in the right direction! Here are a few things to consider over the summer:
- Fundraising
This is more for your students, but we can’t express enough how valuable those summer months are for fundraising. Students have more time and fewer responsibilities in the summer months, so it’s an excellent time for them to work a summer job (or two) to save money towards the trip.
- Music
Give yourself the freedom to daydream about the music you want to perform on tour. The school year is busy, packed with a million other things to think about it, so take advantage of this quieter time to dream up some incredible selections for your students.
- RELAX!
Yes, relaxation is on our list. If you’ve taken care of the “must do’s,” reward yourself with any and all opportunities to rest. We could list a dozen ways to do that, but we’re pretty confident you have ideas of your own!
If you have a trip on the calendar, enjoy the summer knowing that your performance tour is getting the star treatment from our expert planning team while you’re away from the classroom. If you’re still considering a trip with us, don’t hesitate to reach out – there’s still time to make travel magic happen for your students!
