After his 33-year tenure as a high school music teacher and director of bands, John loves one thing in particular about his role as BRT travel consultant – connecting with all of the friends and colleagues he’s made along the way and helping them create their own memorable student travel experiences. Over the years, John led countless student musicians on trips to festivals and competitions across the state and beyond. He’s even participated in 12 European trips with the Iowa Ambassadors of Music. John understands the unique needs that student performance groups have and loves the challenge of meeting both those and the educational goals of each school he works with.

My favorite book
The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asminov. I read this in HS and the concept of focusing on long term goals and objectives was so powerful it has stayed with me for life.
My hobbies and pastimes
I enjoy photography, reading, walking my dogs and constructing plastic model kits.
My favorite travel destination
I never get tired of touring the Black Hills Region. It is such an Americana experience.
