The Best Broadway Shows for your Student Performance Tour
Travel Notes

Like Paris without the Eiffel Tower, most of us simply can’t imagine New York City without Broadway. With around 40 shows to choose from, it can be difficult to make the right choice. The student friendly options below all embody the essence of Broadway, and are an excellent fit for your next tour.
Disney Aladdin
The magic of Disney’s hit animated film has come to Broadway. Lavish costumes, elaborate sets, and hit music make Aladdin the show stopping performance you would expect from Disney on Broadway. You’ll likely find yourself giving multiple standing ovations throughout the show. Be warned, your students will likely be singing the music penned by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice for the rest of the trip!
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical
Any thoughts that this is a show just for the older generation are very much mistaken. Beautiful, follows the story of Carole King, from her growth in Brooklyn, to her arrival as a chart-topping sensation. The uplifting and recognizable songs, along with a wonderful cast who tell a moving story, make it perfect for all ages.
Matilda
Based on the best-selling children’s book by the late Roald Dahl, Matilda, tells the story of a young girl who dares to change her destiny and stand up for what is right. You will be impressed by stellar performances and amazed by the production’s use of technology – but the show’s energetic kids, led by Matilda, make this one of Broadway’s most inspired shows.
The Phantom of the Opera
While The Phantom of the Opera may seem dated to some, for many of our students who have never been to New York, this is Broadway. Now on its 27th year, Phantom still amazes young people with iconic music, special effects, and some of Broadway’s best singers.
Something Rotten!
This hilarious new show from acclaimed director, Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, Book of Mormon, Spamalot, and The Drowsy Chaperone), tells the story of the creation of the first musical in 1590, as the Bottom Brothers try to battle a “rock star” named Shakespeare. Memorable songs and amazing performances should see this show playing for years.
