Traveling foodies – great eats on tour
Exploring a new city isn’t just about the sights, sounds and experiences – it’s also about the food! We love to include restaurants that feature some unique-to-the-area menu options so students feel fully immersed in the destination they’re visiting. Here are a few BRT-tested, student-approved favorites in some of our most popular trip locales:
New York City – Crossroads American Kitchen
Located within the New York Marriot Marquis, Crossroads features classic American menu selections, but this restaurant’s real showstopper is its address. Easily walkable to the bright lights of Broadway and the best selfie spot in the city, Times Square.
Chicago – Giordano’s
Identifying the best deep dish pizza in Chicago simply isn’t possible – our Chicago-based team could never settle on just one. But Giordano’s is at the top of our list – it’s authentic (stuffed!), delicious and perfect for students. With locations throughout the city, there’s a convenient Giordano’s that fits into any itinerary.
New Orleans – New Orleans School of Cooking
The only thing better than eating Cajun/Creole food is learning to make it! Students watch a live cooking demonstration featuring regional favorites while learning about the history of the area. And then the best part – eating an authentic New Orleans meal!
Nashville – Wild Horse Saloon
A Nashville staple, The Wildhorse Saloon is a student favorite, with live music, line dancing and southern smokehouse comfort food. Located downtown near Riverfront Park, The Wildhorse is the largest per capita restaurant in all of Tennessee.
Memphis – Central BBQ
You can’t visit Memphis without a few BBQ stains and Central BBQ is just the place to experience the sweet, spicy goodness of this smoked classic. Award winning and much loved on all the food TV channels, Central BBQ has locations throughout Memphis and is perfect for large groups.
BONUS – Pinstripes
With locations across the country, Pinstripes is a great dining option for student travelers. One part scratch kitchen, one part bowling and bocce, Pinstripes has fantastic food in a fun, playful atmosphere.
