Meet Mike
Mike O’Neill has spent most of his life performing in choirs in beautiful destinations across the world and he’s had the privilege to introduce the world of performance travel to his students, as well. For six years, he directed Voices uKnighted, an award-winning high school a cappella ensemble. But he couldn’t let students have all the fun – he spent a decade performing with Lunch Break, a barbershop quartet known for both incredible voices and comedic timing. From his high school and college choir adventures to traveling with his own students as a music educator, Mike understands how life-changing performance travel can be for young people. A client-turned-team-member, Mike loves the culture at BRT, as well as the impact his work has on student performers.

My favorite travel memory
Getting to travel to France with my college choir – my first time traveling to a foreign country – has to be one of my favorite travel memories. My college choir director, Ron Burrichter, was a member of the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, and he made it a point to take us to the same places the actual Festival Singers recorded! The venues were unlike anything I had ever experienced in the United States! The way in which our choir grew together as a family and being exposed to a completely different culture are things I still think about fondly. Some of my very best friends to this day, 20+ years later, were on that trip!
My hobbies and pastimes
I love playing golf, singing barbershop quartet music and cheering on the Florida Gators! Beyond that, my favorite thing to do is to cheer on our three beautiful, talented and active daughters in their various activities, ranging from soccer, to basketball, to lacrosse, to volleyball, to dance!
My favorite travel destination
My barbershop quartet, Lunch Break, was fortunate enough to be invited to New Zealand and Australia for their National Barbershop Conventions that happened on successive weekends, which thankfully afforded us a bit of time between conventions to do some sightseeing. I have to say, without question, my favorite travel destination is Queenstown, New Zealand. It was the most stunning, beautiful, peaceful part of the world I have ever seen and I truly hope the opportunity arises for me to return one day soon!
